Can you overdose from beauty products?

February 22nd, 2010

Lots of chemicals are absorbed thru the skin I heard. There was that 17-year-old girl who had excess methyl salicilate in her blood from using a topical cream called Bengay. She also used oral stuff that contained the chemical.
I wonder if using lots of beauty products could do the same thing. I’m currently using a Neutrogena anti-wrinkle cream with spf 15, an eye cream with similar ingredients, also a toner and a cream cleanser. I also wear foundation, powder and lip balm consistently. Then I also take birth control and iron pills. It seems like i’m accumulating chemicals in my body.

Does this concern make sense at all?

How do you remove Spray Sunscreen from plastic shelving?

February 21st, 2010

It is hot and humid in my bathroom during the summer and an aerosol can of spray sunscreen leaked all throughout my medicine cabinet with plastic shelving. It created an adhesive like substance that I cannot remove. I have tried baking soda, and a myriad of cleansers but nothing works…help!

What type of sunscreen should I used around my eyes?

February 20th, 2010

I have to use sunscreen a lot due to acne medicine, and the Neutrogena SPF 45 sunscreen I normally use for my face causes a burning sensation when I apply it directly under my eyes. I don’t really mind this, since it only lasts for about 10 minutes, but is it actually bad for the skin under my eyes or is it just irritating?

How do you remove spray sunscreen from a lhot tub cover?

February 18th, 2010

Me and my friend accidentally sprayed a hot tub cover with continuous spray sport sunscreen lotion. The spray left white marks all over the cover. We tried soap and water, however it did not made a dramatic change. It may be possible to continue the soap-water scrubbing process and get it clean eventually, but a faster solution would be greatly appreciated. We believe the cover to be made of leather or a leatherette material. Any ideas?

Beauty products that really work?

February 18th, 2010

consumers digest has a magazine that tests and rates cars and appliances and so on. the funds for the research and the printing of the magazine comes from the consumers purchasing it. all this has nothing to do w/ the companies paying them to pick there own product by bribes, advertisements and etc. My question is this: are there any such magazines, webs etc. that offer the same honest tests and results on beauty products such as wrinkle creams, shampoos, conditioners, etc. and the ingredients that really are the best? I absolutely 100% know and believe that NAME BRAND PRODUCTS are simply that, JUST A NAME YOU ARE PAYING FOR. Even the "testimonies" from so called dermatologists are B.S. They are paid to say what they say.
If you’re going to answer this, please notice what i am asking for IS NOT personal opinions of particular products such as Mary Kay (total over priced junk, I used to be a "consultant") etc. etc. but rather documentation of comparisons and results of products
